  • Ryan Millar, 3 time olympian, gives Mike credit for developing his competitive spirit. Ryan played for Mike at Hilltop High School then went on to BYU and the Olympic Team.

ABOUT MIKE:

Mike led our 2012 18 Black team to a 14th place at the Junior Nationals.  He also placed all 7 starters of the team into college varsity programs. He has led his teams over the years to 11 League Championships. In the last decade while in San Diego, he has coached at Mt. Carmel High School where he has been a teacher since 1999 and at Tri-City Christian.

Mike truly believes that volleyball is the greatest sport in the world. He also believes that in order to be successful in the sport of volleyball, one needs to play with a high level of passion and play every point with a sense of purpose.

Mike was a 4 year captain and starter for Cal State Northride where he earned his BS physics degree in 1988. He was named an NCAA All American his Junior year. He played as both setter and outside hitter. While earning his teaching credential, Mike was also an AVP beach player in the early 90s.

A BIT MORE ABOUT MIKE:

Mike is still an active recreational beach player with his 'A' rating. He loves being out at the beach with his family and friends. His daughter played volleyball for Point Loma Nazarene University here in San Diego. In 2006, Mike earned a Master's Degree in Educational Technology.
