James started playing volleyball at Carlsbad High as a freshman.  James was a member of the 2007 Carlsbad High CIF Championship team. James has transitioned into his coaching career after 12 years of playing experience.  James worked as a support counselor for a non-profit organization and a teacher’s aide in a special education class.  These experiences have allowed James to bring positivity and patience to his coaching repertoire. James has a passion for the game that he wishes to pass down to his players.

He is currently a substitute teacher in the Poway district and looking to become a history teacher. James is the boy's varsity head coach at Mt. Carmel High School as well. James coaches to inspire confidence and integrity and to encourage his athletes to combine these qualities with the skills they learn to better themselves on the court and in the world.   James enjoys spending time with friends and family and his son. He continues to play beach and indoor volleyball.
